Entrance Exam for Class of 2025

The Loyola Academy entrance exam is the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The HSPT has five sections: verbal, quantitative, reading, math and language (English). An essay is also included on the entrance exam.

Online pre-registration will be available beginning Friday, November 20 until Friday, December 4, at 8:00 a.m. Although pre-registration is encouraged, walk up registration will be accepted on the day of the exam.

Students must take the Loyola Academy Entrance Exam to be considered for admission to Loyola Academy.
All information is contingent on forthcoming direction from state and local authorities.

  • Exam Day Information

    • The exam will take place at Loyola Academy, 1100 Laramie Avenue, in Wilmette. Please enter through the main entrance.
    • The exam begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5. Students should allow extra time for traffic and for getting to the testing room.
    • All students should report to the East Gym to receive their testing classroom assignment.
    • Students must bring two #2 pencils. Calculators and language translators are not permitted.
    • All application materials, including a financial aid application, will be distributed to students on December 7.
    • Students will not have access to vending machines during the exam, but may bring their own snacks and water bottles.
    • The exam ends at approximately 11:30 a.m.
  • Registration and Fees

    • Online pre-registration will begin on Friday, November 20, and conclude on Friday, December 4, at 8:00 a.m.
    • Walk in registration will also be accepted on exam day, December 5.
    • The testing fee is $25 and will be paid on exam day. Students should bring cash or check made payable to Loyola Academy.
  • Testing Accommodations for HSPT

    Loyola Academy offers limited testing accommodations on the entrance exam. If a student is seeking extended time or other testing accommodations, the following documents must be submitted to by Friday, November 20, 2020:
  • Parent Presentation

    On the day of the exam, parents are invited to a curriculum presentation in the West Gym beginning at 8:15 a.m. Loyola Academy administrators and department chairs will present information on Loyola's curriculum, placement process and course options. Current Loyola Academy students will also be available to answer questions. This presentation is optional.
  • Make-Up Exam

    A make-up exam date will be posted on the admissions web page after December 5. Students who tested at another Catholic high school on December 5 will not be permitted to take the make-up exam.
