Loyola Theatre Brings Joy to the Stage with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
10/14/2026

Loyola Academy Theatre brought the beloved Peanuts gang to life in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown on October 1 and 2, 2026, at the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center. Directed and choreographed by Artistic Director of Theatre Aaron Umsted, the musical celebrated friendship, perseverance and the simple joys of growing up.
Based on Charles Schulz’s comic strip, the production followed Charlie Brown and his friends through everyday adventures, blending humor and heartfelt moments with musical numbers including “My Blanket and Me,” “Suppertime” and “Happiness.” Student performers, crew members and pit musicians worked together to create a production that highlighted their creativity and collaboration.
On October 1, Loyola welcomed 567 students from area Catholic schools, ranging from pre-K through eighth grade, for a sold-out school matinee. After the performance, visiting students participated in a talkback and Q&A with members of the cast, crew and pit orchestra, asking questions about the production and life at Loyola. A concluding meet-and-greet offered an opportunity to connect individually with company members and share their enthusiasm for the performing arts.
The production marked Umsted’s first show at Loyola, inviting audiences of all ages to find joy in familiar characters and appreciate the meaningful moments in everyday life.
