Girls Tennis Takes Second at Sectionals; Three Ramblers Advance to State
10/20/2026

Loyola Academy’s varsity girls tennis team earned an impressive second-place finish at the Glenbrook North Sectional, held October 16–17, 2026. Junior Caroline Hewitt qualified for the IHSA State Tournament in singles, while senior Ainsley Schachman and junior Molly Minahan advanced in doubles.
Caroline secured her second consecutive state tournament appearance with a straight-set victory over a Prospect opponent in her qualifying match. After a semifinal loss to Glenbrook North’s top seed, she defeated Glenbrook North’s third seed 6–3, 6–4 to claim third place.
In doubles, Ainsley and Molly earned their state tournament berth with a commanding 6–0, 6–0 victory over a Prospect team in their qualifying match. The pair finished fourth at the sectional, giving Ainsley the opportunity to close out her four-year varsity career on the state stage.
A two-year captain, Ainsley has played on the Ramblers’ No. 1 doubles team throughout her four years on varsity and has recorded 79 career victories for Loyola. A trip to state marks a memorable milestone in her accomplished Rambler career.
Congratulations to Caroline, Ainsley, Molly and the entire team on an outstanding sectional performance!
