RPO Kicks Off the New School Year with Parent Welcome Mixer

A crisp autumnal evening set the scene for the annual Parent Welcome Mixer in Loyola Academy's Performing Arts Center Quad on Thursday, September 4. This year's event, hosted by the Rambler Parent Organization (RPO), saw a record number of parents and guardians in attendance to mix and mingle, reconnect with friends, and get involved at Loyola. The Parent Welcome Mixer also serves as an opportunity to welcome families of the Class of 2029 and those who have joined the Rambler community in the 2025-26 school year.
Parents and guardians enjoyed music and chatted over light appetizers and drinks as the sun set over the quad. Everyone received beaded necklaces, color-coded according to their children’s class years, making connections among class years easier.

Later in the evening, Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, gave brief remarks to the nearly 300 guests in attendance, emphasizing the integral role Rambler parents and guardians play in the Loyola Academy community and encouraging them to get involved through the RPO. Keri Ambrosio P '27, Nancy Detlefsen LdM P '24, '24, '28, and Andrea Macina P '22, '24, '27, '27, who serve as chairs of the RPO, closed out the remarks, sharing their experiences volunteering with the organization and how these have shaped their time at Loyola in a meaningful way in order to motivate others to do the same.

As the night rolled in, parents and guardians kept warm by fire pits as the event wound down. We are grateful to the Parent Welcome Mixer event chairs Marty Kearney P '28, Kelly Mulcahy-Libel P '24, '27, and Megan Waite P '26 for generously sharing their time and talents to make this evening a success.

A special thank you to the event sponsors for their support in making the Parent Welcome Mixer possible.

The RPO will host several more events throughout the year to provide connection and fellowship among Rambler parents and guardians. Visit the RPO web page to see a full list of upcoming events and additional ways to get involved.
