Loyola Academy's Thespian Troupe #4729 attended the Illinois High School Theatre Festival from January 8 to January 10 at Illinois State University, joining thousands of students and educators from across the state for the world’s largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival. This year’s gathering marked a milestone, celebrating the festival’s 50th anniversary.
More than 100 Loyola Academy students demonstrated exceptional skill, confidence, and professionalism at the Illinois DECA North Suburban Area Competition held on Wednesday, January 14, in Rosemont, Illinois. In total, 102 students earned an impressive 76 awards, a testament to both their preparation and their ability to think critically and perform under pressure.
On Monday, January 12, the Loyola Academy community gathered in the West Gym for a school-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day Assembly that invited students to reflect deeply on their call to justice, service, and leadership. Anchored in the theme "Give Light, and People Will Find the Way" and the subtheme "We Are the Light," the 60-minute assembly wove together prayer, music, spoken word, and student leadership in a powerful act of communal discernment.
Braimah Lawal '14 returned to campus this winter to engage with students and share his journey as an artist and storyteller, offering a powerful witness to the role of creativity, vulnerability, and self-discovery in a life well lived. His exhibition, Dreaming in Colors, is currently on display in the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center and will remain open through February 21.
Loyola Academy is proud to announce that Teddy Berhane '27, Philbert Berko '27, Ryan Caldwell '28, Abby Coleman '29, Joey Panfil '26, Ethan Rodrigues '27, Cash Rogers '26, Hunter Solon '26, and Minji Yang '27 have been selected to exhibit their photographic work in the Drexel University National Juried High School Photography Exhibition in Philadelphia.
