Loyola Celebrates the Solemnity of All Saints

The Loyola community gathered to celebrate a beautiful All Saints Day Mass on Friday, November 1.

In his homily, Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, reminded students that the communion of saints is a diverse group of people who have lived their vocation with wonderful zeal not because they were perfect, but because they had the courage to listen to God’s invitation to do something very special.

“The saints are a beautifully diverse collection of human beings who, in their own fragile, flawed, sinful experiences, heard from God an invitation. They heard a question. ‘What will you do with this life of yours? What is it you will do with your gifts and talents?’ ”

Fr. McGrath encouraged Ramblers to pause and recognize that God speaks to them as well, asking what they will do with their gifts and how they will make sense of this world.

“We are all invited to live lives like the saints—not perfect, but passionate. Lives devoted to using who we are in response to the God who loves us. May we know the grace to hear that as an invitation to discernment and a call to action.”
