The boys’ varsity tennis team won the Chicago Catholic League championship last week to make it the 29th win for Tom Fitzgerald as head coach!
The Ramblers captured the 2019 title in a closely contested tournament. The Ramblers (35 points) outlasted the Wolfpack from St. Ignatius (33 points) and the Friars from Fenwick (30 points) as they defended their Catholic League title.
They needed each flight to contribute their points to the team total—champions at 2nd Doubles were senior Michael Reardon and sophomore Brendan Hadley;Michael Sullivan, a sophomore, was the 3rd singles champion; in 2nd Place at 1st Doubles were seniors Patrick Lawler and Jack Carpenter. They made a great run and only came up a little short vs. Fenwick. At 1st Singles, senior Ryan Reardon finished in 3rd Place as did Ethan Tong, a junior, at 2nd Singles.
The Ramblers are now preparing for the New Trier State Sectional which begins on Friday, May 17. Good Luck to all of our Rambler participants.
