Orchestra's Spring Concert Highlights Student Artistry
On May 1, the Loyola Academy Orchestra's final concert of the year offered a vibrant celebration of collaboration, creativity, and student artistry, bringing together musicians, dancers, and guest performers for an unforgettable evening.
Under the direction of Orchestra Teacher Mr. Patrick Rustandi, the program featured an engaging variety of musical styles, highlighted by special appearances from the Jazz Band, Unidos dancers, and Loyola Academy guitarists. These collaborations added energy and visual flair, transforming the concert into a dynamic, multi-dimensional performance.
Audience favorites included selections from La La Land and the timeless "Moon River," both performed alongside the Jazz Band, as well as the spirited "Hava Nagila." The evening concluded with a lively and crowd-pleasing finale, "Tico Tico," which brought the audience to an enthusiastic close. The concert also showcased outstanding student musicians, including pianists David Goetz and Francis Tamayo, who performed with the Honors Orchestra. Additional featured pieces—from the expressive Lullaby to the Moon to Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor—highlighted the depth and versatility of the program and the dedication of its performers.
A special moment of the evening came in recognition of the Orchestra's graduating seniors, whose commitment and leadership have shaped the program: Ayotomide Ajani, Laura Koszeghy, Alice Mihailov, Tran Pham, Billy Cadigan, Henry Fisk, Joan Geoly, Bria Licudine, Danny Malan, Claire Montalvan, Winnie Orth, Leo Salach, and Francis Tamayo. Their contributions, along with the talent and dedication of all student performers, made the concert a fitting and memorable finale to the year—one that truly embodied the spirit of collaboration and the joy of making music together.
