Tommy Grant '25 Earns Back-to-Back IHSMTA Nominations for Outstanding Performance
Congratulations to Loyola Academy senior and Thespian Society Board Member Tommy Grant, who has been named a nominee for the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Award (IHSMTA) for Best Performer in an Actor Role! Sponsored by Broadway in Chicago and NBC, this prestigious honor recognizes Tommy’s outstanding portrayal of Cornelius in Loyola’s spring musical, Hello, Dolly!
This marks Tommy’s second consecutive nomination, following last year's recognition for his dual role as Cain/Japeth in Children of Eden. This year, 85 high school productions from across Illinois participated in IHSMTA, and Tommy is one of only 12 male performers selected statewide.
As part of the award experience, Tommy and his fellow nominees will rehearse a musical number choreographed by a member of the Chicago production of Titanique. They will perform at the Jimmy Awards ceremony on Monday, May 12, at the Broadway Playhouse, where the Best Performer in an Actor Role will be announced. The student selected will go on to represent Illinois at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.
We are incredibly proud of Tommy’s talent, dedication, and embodiment of the Ignatian ideal of magis—always striving for more. Good luck, Tommy!
