The Class of 1975 Celebrates its 50th Reunion

Members of the Class of 1975 gathered to celebrate their 50th Rambler Reunion over an exciting fall weekend on October 24 and 25.

The festivities began on Friday evening as classmates gathered in the Loyola Lounge for drinks, snacks, and plenty of reminiscing before heading out to Hoerster Field to cheer on the Ramblers. From their VIP seats in the north end zone, alumni watched Loyola take on longtime rival Mount Carmel in a spirited matchup. The Class of 1975 was proudly recognized on the field at halftime as cheers from the crowd echoed across the stands.
Despite a hard-fought effort, the Ramblers fell to Mount Carmel 35–24. They did, however, secure a coveted spot among 256 teams headed to the playoffs, where they will rematch with Mount Carmel at Carey Field in the first round on Saturday, November 1, at 4:30 p.m. Go Ramblers! Following the game, many classmates continued the celebration at Stormy’s Tavern and Grille in Northfield, where conversation and laughter carried late into the evening.

Members of the Class of 1975 returned to Lake and Laramie on Saturday as Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, celebrated a special 50th Reunion Mass in the Chapel. Classmates who have passed away were remembered in a moving memorial video that played before Mass. The liturgy featured meaningful readings from Dan Seeberg ’75 and Rich Wehman ’75, and heartfelt Prayers of the Faithful led by Mark Ambrose ’75 and Jim Nugent ’75, bringing the community together in prayer and purpose.

Following Mass, the group gathered in the East Gym for a class photo to commemorate this milestone reunion before heading to the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center, where Director of Alumni Relations Mary-Kate Lopez '19 delivered welcome remarks. Alumni then enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and an evening of joyful celebration and reconnection.

During dinner, Fr. Greg offered remarks and shared updates about Loyola’s vision for the future, including the exciting news of a $100,000 matching gift to help launch the Class of 1975 Scholarship Endowment. This permanently endowed fund will provide approximately $10,000 annually in tuition assistance—expanding access to a Loyola education for future generations of Ramblers. Hobie Murnane ’75 reflected that while Loyola Academy has changed in many ways since his class last walked the halls as students, its steadfast commitment to the Jesuit mission continues to guide all that it does.

More than 115 alumni from the Class of 1975 participated in the weekend’s events, making it a truly memorable occasion. Conversation and camaraderie continued into the night as classmates reminisced, scrolled through yearbooks, embraced old friends, and shared stories that spread joy and laughter throughout the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center. We hope this special weekend rekindled friendships and inspires new connections among this class.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Class of 1975 Reunion Committee—Ralph Gesualdo, James Hickey, Daryl Jackson, Michael Jaskoski, Hobie Murnane, Paul Nuccio, Gabriel Rodriguez, William Schramm, Daniel Seeberg, and Richard Wehman Jr.—for their time, leadership, and dedication in planning this meaningful celebration. Congratulations to the Class of 1975 on 50 years of Rambler pride, lifelong friendship, and faith-filled connection!
