The Class of 1965 Returns to Loyola to Celebrate Their 60th Reunion

The Loyola Academy Class of 1965 gathered the weekend of October 3–4 to celebrate an extraordinary milestone—60 years since their graduation. The two-day celebration offered alumni many opportunities to reconnect, reminisce, and enjoy the spirit of being Ramblers together again.
The festivities began Friday evening, October 3, with a casual pre-reunion gathering at Hackney’s on Lake in Glenview. Classmates shared stories, laughter, and memories over food and drinks, setting the tone for a weekend filled with camaraderie.

On Saturday, October 4, Loyola Academy Advancement Officer Tim Kane ‘86 welcomed alumni back to campus to continue the festivities. Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, presided over Mass, opening with an In Memoriam video that honored classmates who have passed. Following Mass, alumni gathered in the Loyola Lounge for a relaxed brunch, where conversations flowed easily as classmates reconnected and reflected on their shared experiences. Fr. Greg also shared reflections on Loyola’s growth and his vision for the school’s future.

The reunion continued with campus tours, giving alumni the chance to see firsthand the ways Loyola has evolved over the decades. Stops included the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center (PAC), the John D. Norcross '54 Aquatic Center, the Nelson Innovation Hub, and the brand new Athletic Performance Center. Many were struck by Loyola’s progress and expressed appreciation for the school’s advancements in academics, the arts, and athletics.

In true Rambler spirit, the day concluded with great football! Members from the Class of 1965 cheered on Loyola as the Ramblers secured a 28–7 victory over Saint Ignatius College Prep—marking the team's second win at home this season. The announcer welcomed the Class of 1965 during the first quarter, and they were met with a warm round of applause from the Loyola community.

The weekend was a joyful reminder of the strength of Rambler bonds and the enduring legacy of the Class of 1965. Loyola Academy extends heartfelt thanks to the Class of 1965 reunion committee—Charles Connolly, Jim Kauss, Joseph Koss, John Langdon, John Lynch, John Nesbitt, and John Rank—for their dedication in making this milestone celebration so meaningful.

We look forward to more gatherings in the years ahead and to the continued connection of this remarkable class.
