Girls Varsity Lacrosse Captures IHSA State Championship
The Loyola Academy girls varsity lacrosse team added another chapter to its storied tradition of excellence, defeating York High School on Saturday, June 6, to claim the 2026 IHSA Girls Lacrosse State Championship.
The title marks Loyola Academy's fourth IHSA state championship since girls lacrosse became an IHSA-sanctioned sport in 2017 and the program's 17th state championship overall.
Guided by head coach John Dwyer'67 and the dedicated coaching staff, the Ramblers showcased the talent, determination, and teamwork that have defined the program throughout the season. Their commitment to one another and unwavering pursuit of excellence culminated in a championship victory that reflects the values of Loyola Academy both on and off the field.
"We congratulate our student-athletes, Coach Dwyer, the coaching staff, and our Rambler families on this outstanding accomplishment," said Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, and Principal Tim Devine. "Through their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to one another, they have represented Loyola Academy with pride and distinction throughout the season."
The championship is another remarkable achievement for a program built on leadership, resilience, and a tradition of success. The Ramblers' accomplishments continue to inspire the Loyola Academy community and exemplify what it means to compete with integrity and represent the school with pride.
On behalf of the entire Loyola Academy community, congratulations to our state champions. Go Ramblers!
