Loyola Academy Orchestra Earns Second Place at IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest
On Saturday, March 7, members of the Loyola Academy Orchestra competed in the 2026 IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest, delivering an outstanding performance that earned the school second place in the state in the Class AA Strings (Solo/Ensemble) division.
Competing against top programs from across Illinois, Loyola Academy finished with 189 points, just three points behind Waukegan High School, which earned first place with 192 points. Normal Community High School placed third with 180 points. The close margin reflects the high level of competition and the exceptional performance of Loyola’s student musicians.
Throughout the contest, Rambler musicians demonstrated remarkable technical skill, artistry, and poise as they performed both solo and ensemble selections. Their success is the result of months of focused rehearsal, thoughtful preparation, and a deep commitment to musical excellence.
The IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest provides students with the opportunity to perform challenging repertoire before adjudicators while refining their musicianship and collaborative skills. Loyola's strong showing is a testament not only to the talent of the student performers but also to their dedication and perseverance.
Congratulations to the members of the Loyola Academy String Orchestra on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing the Rambler community with excellence on the state stage.
