Boot Scootin’ Memories Made by Daughters and Dads at D4

Cowboy boots, denim, and plenty of smiles filled the Hilton Orrington in Evanston on Friday, January 30, as Ramblers gathered for D4: Dinner Dance for Daughters and Dads. This beloved annual tradition once again brought together Loyola families for an evening centered on connection and celebration.
Guests embraced this year’s country western theme, arriving dressed to impress and ready to hit the dance floor. From the moment the doors opened, the ballroom buzzed with excitement as families enjoyed dinner, music, line dancing, a magician, and time to simply be together—sharing laughs, snapping photos, and creating moments that daughters and dads will remember long after the night ended.

As one Loyola dad shared, “As a dad, you don’t always get uninterrupted time like this, and D4 makes it feel special. Seeing my daughter laughing with her friends, then pulling me onto the dance floor—it’s a memory I’ll hold onto for a long time.”

A highlight of the evening was the always-anticipated raffle, which featured an impressive lineup of generously donated packages. From music lessons and fitness experiences to Chicago dining favorites, Windy City Smokeout concert tickets to see Lainey Wilson (and more), and local spa and shopping excursions, the raffle prizes reflected the creativity and generosity of the Loyola community. These contributions not only added excitement to the night but also supported the continued success of D4 and future parent programming.

More than just a dance, D4 continues to be a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the special bond between daughters and dads across all grade levels. For many students, the night blended tradition with simple fun. “I loved getting dressed up in our theme outfits and just having fun together,” one Rambler shared. “It’s one of those nights where you realize how lucky you are to be part of the Loyola community.”

For LA families, it marked a cherished tradition that occurs every other year, opposite Mom Prom, which will celebrate Rambler mothers and sons in 2027. A very special thank you to this year’s event chairs, Kate Ericson P ’27, ’28; Helen Levinson P ’27; and Kristi Kramer Schultz P ’26, ’28, all our volunteers, raffle donors, and everyone who helped bring this joyful evening to life. Most of all, thank you to the daughters and dads who filled the night with energy, love, and Rambler spirit. D4 2026 was truly a night to remember.
