Loyola Academy Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists
This September, five Loyola Academy seniors were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exceptional academic achievement. Congratulations to Jenna Crosswhite, Olivia Galiano, Julianne Miller, Bennett Olsen, and Alexander Persohn, who have earned the distinction of National Merit semifinalists.
The National Merit Scholarship Program identifies students across the country whose performance demonstrates both outstanding intellectual promise and readiness for the challenges of college-level study. Fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors achieve semifinalist status, making this recognition a significant academic milestone.
These Loyola scholars entered the 2026 program by taking the 2024 PSAT/NMSQT, which serves as the first step in the rigorous selection process. As semifinalists, they now have the opportunity to advance and compete for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships valued at more than $30 million, to be awarded next spring.
We are proud to celebrate Jenna, Olivia, JuJu, Ben, and Alex for embodying Loyola’s tradition of excellence. Their achievements highlight the Jesuit ideal of developing one’s gifts to their fullest potential.
