It was a picture-perfect September afternoon when alumni, parents, and friends gathered at North Shore Country Club in Glenview for the sold-out 31st annual Ramblers Golf Outing on Monday, September 8. Now in its fourth decade, this cherished Loyola tradition has contributed more than $250,000 in support of Rambler families, extending the gift of a Jesuit education to current and future generations of Ramblers.
Guests were welcomed with a luncheon before heading to the first tee.
Director of Advancement Marty Jennings '98 offered opening remarks, and
Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, led the community in prayer. The day began in high gear with a million-dollar shot contest for four lucky raffle winners and continued with friendly competition across the course.
This year's hole-in-one contests brought added excitement—and a historic moment. On No. 8,
Tim Conway P '20, '22 sank an ace to win a brand-new 2026 Genesis GV70 2.5T Select AWD, generously donated by
Hanley Dawson IV '86 P '17, '19 and Patrick Cars. On No. 3, golfers aimed for a VW ID Buzz, courtesy of
John P. Jennings ’79 and Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen.
We are deeply grateful for the enduring generosity of Patrick Cars, which has supported Loyola Academy and the Ramblers Golf Outing for close to 30 years.Other contests included Longest Drive on No. 12 and Closest to the Pin on No. 3, with NSCC Pro Shop gift certificates awarded to winners. A fun new challenge—Beat the Principal—gave golfers the chance to outdrive
Principal Tim Devine '88 on No. 3 and win a Loyola-branded golf kit. On No. 13, players were treated to a course-side tasting courtesy of Broda (
Alek Szczupak '19) and Two Eagles Distillery (
Jesse Zien '00).
The raffle brought additional excitement, with prizes ranging from mulligans and LA golf balls to memorable experiences: a four-course chef’s tasting for four at any Ballyhoo Hospitality restaurant (donated by
Ryan O'Donnell '95), Cubs and Bears tickets (donated by
Reb Banas '81 P '16, '17, '23), and premier golf equipment including a Cleveland RTX 6 Black Satin wedge (donated by
Jim Thanner P '24). Congratulations to raffle winners
Art Oliver P '24, '28;

We extend heartfelt thanks to our Rambler hosts at North Shore Country Club for their generosity and hospitality. We also gratefully acknowledge our sponsors, whose partnership advances our shared mission:
Gold Sponsor McDermott Construction (Michael D. McDermott P '18, '19, '22, '26) and
Silver Sponsors Heneghan Wrecking Co. (Pat Heneghan '88 P '29) and
Stanley Spring & Stamping Corporation (Reb Banas '81, P '16, '17, '23). Through their support—and the participation of our Loyola community—we move closer to our goal of providing one year's tuition for one student through the Tuition Assistance Program, an expression of cura personalis and the magis in action.
Please save the date for our next outing tentatively scheduled on
Monday, September 14, 2026. We look forward to seeing you on the green!
