Boys' Varsity and Frosh/Soph Tennis teams win Conference Championship
The Loyola Academy varsity boys' tennis team traveled to XS Tennis Village to compete in the CCL Championship. For the third year in a row, the squad claimed the first-place trophy. This year they did it in a dominant fashion, earning 48 out of a possible 50 points.
In 1st Singles, PJ Barry'26 finished 2nd in a high quality, competitive match to Marmion Academy, 7-6, 6-3. In 2nd Singles, Peter Alshouse '25 defeated St. Ignatius 6-1, 6-2. The 1st Doubles team of brothers Luke Floro '26 and Alex Floro '27 beat St. Ignatius 6-3, 6-4. In 2nd Doubles, Brendan Prassas '25 and Sam Thompson '25 defeated DePaul College Prep 6-2, 6-0. The 3rd doubles players, Benny Birmingham '26 and Danny Sullivan '25, beat the team from Marmion Academy in the final match, 6-2, 6-1.
The Frosh/Soph team is also 2025 CCL champions—sweeping all matches. Will Persohn '27 won 1st Singles. John Ciaglo '27 won 2nd Singles. John Birmingham '28 and Chris York '27 won 1st Doubles. Max Willer '27 and Baird Summerford '28 won 2nd Doubles. Finally, Mason Lalich '27 and John Moorehead '28 won 3rd doubles.
Congratulations to the boys' tennis program! The varsity boys travel to New Trier this Friday, May 23, to compete in Sectionals.
