Ramblers Reach Final Four in Remarkable Field Hockey Season

For the first time in over a decade, Loyola Academy Varsity Field Hockey made it to the final four in the Illinois High School Field Hockey Association (IHSFHA) State Championship!
"This is the most talented and determined team I have ever coached," said Field Hockey Coach Misty Brady. "Team 23 defied expectations and proved that putting in the work and playing as a team is where the magic happens."

After a close match, Loyola fell to the twelfth-ranked team in the nation, New Trier, 0–1 in the semifinals on Thursday, October 30. The Ramblers held New Trier to only five shots on goal. Cece Maloney '28 made four crucial saves, which kept the Trevians scoreless until the third quarter.

In the bronze medal match against Lake Forest on Saturday, November 1, the Ramblers showed their determination. Jilly Rocchio '27 notched two goals to bring the team back from a two-goal deficit and tie the game. However, the Scouts answered back, making the score 3–2. The Ramblers didn't give up. On a high-speed breakaway, Maia Later '29 found the back of the net and knotted the score. The midfield was anchored by Caroline Kotz '26, who created several opportunities for her teammates throughout the game. It was a heartbreaking 3–4 loss, as Lake Forest scored on a penalty with time expired in the fourth quarter.

"It was an incredible journey. We continue to celebrate Team 23 and use the trail they have blazed to set the new standard for all the teams to come! Go Ramblers!" added Coach Brady.

Congratulations on a fantastic season, Ramblers!
