Loyola Academy Dance Highlights Decades of Music in Spring Showcase
On Thursday, April 23, Loyola Academy's Dance Program brought energy and nostalgia to the stage of the Leemputte Family Theatre in the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center with its annual spring showcase.
This year's theme, Throwback Thursday, took the audience on a dynamic journey through time, featuring music and choreography spanning centuries—from classical compositions to contemporary hits. Performers included students from Honors Dance, Dance 3, and Dance 2, along with members of the Orchesis Dance Company. The program also featured special guest appearances by the cast of The Lightning Thief and Loyola's Polish Club.
The evening opened with a nod to the 18th century, as dancers interpreted a piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From there, the showcase moved through decades of iconic music, highlighting artists such as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Jackson 5, and Michael Jackson, before transitioning into the sounds of 1990s hip-hop and early 2000s chart-toppers.
Through each era, dancers brought distinct styles and storytelling to life, creating a vibrant celebration of music, movement, and history. View the full concert program.
