Dance Marathon Combines Service with Fun

In January, Loyola Academy hosted its second annual 12-hour dance marathon in the east gym. Nearly 200 students boogied the night away to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Summer Camp.
Keeping the students active and awake, DJ Energy Productions kicked off the festivities with hungry, hungry hippo, the limbo and dance competitions. The Loyola Academy Dance Team led a choreographed group dance, and students enjoyed performances by the Dance Collective, the Step Team, Drum Line and American Dance Beat. All attendees received a special MDA water bottle designed by Zion Martin Hayes ’19.

“We raised around $5,000, and we're continuing to collect money so we hope to reach around $6,000,” reports Evelyn Benvenuto ’19.

This event showcases Loyola Academy’s mission to shape students into young women and men for others. Special thanks to all the chaperones who endured the early morning hours, our student board/spirit squad and DJ Energy Productions who kept everyone bopping all night (and morning) long!

The event generated interest in the community and was covered by local press. Read more from The Daily North Shore here.
