It was a beautiful day for golf at the Glen View Club as alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy hit the links for the 23rd annual Ramblers Golf Outing on September 11.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to play games and win spectacular prizes. At holes 2 and 14, golfers tried their best to get a hole-in-one and drive off in a 2017 Cadillac XT5 sponsored by The Patrick Dealer Group and Hanley Dawson IV ’86 or a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox sponsored by Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen and John P. Jennings ’79.
Popular games on the course included Deuces Wild on the 7th hole, Closest to the Pin on the 11th hole and Longest Drive on the 13th hole for a chance to win cash prizes and gift certificates to the Glen View Pro Shop. Players purchased raffle tickets to secure two mulligans and a chance to win Northwestern Wildcats and Chicago Bears tickets donated by Ronald “Reb” E. Banas ’81, tickets to the 2017 President’s Dinner donated by Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, and a four course dinner for four with wine pairings at Gemini Bistro in Chicago, donated by Ryan M. O’Donnell ’95.
On the green, Reb Banas ’81, Timothy J. Haggerty ’81, Charles “Chas” K. Stevens ’85 and Jim Sullivan ’88 took first place with a gross score of 143. On the Peoria handicapping system, Michael Busch, Andrew C. Goldberg ’85, John C. Joyce, Sr. ’83 and Joseph P. Roddy ’82 took first place with a score of 131.
Patrick Feeley ’81 was closest to the pin on hole 11 and Reb Banas ’81 had the longest drive on the 13the hole. Both won a gift certificate to the Glen View Pro Shop.
Because of generous contributions from golf outing participants, Loyola Academy was able to cover the tuition for one student, as well as raise funds for the Loyola Academy Needy Family Fund.
We extend a special thank you to our lead sponsor Burling Bank, specifically Andy Goldberg ’85 and Michael Busch; event sponsors Stanley Spring & Stamping Corporation (Reb Banas ’81) and Glassen Technology Solutions (Tim Haggerty ’81) for their generous support. We are grateful to our golf committee members Reb Banas ’81 and Chas Stevens ’85. Their generosity and hard work helped make the day possible.
Save the date for next year’s outing on September 10, 2018!
