May showers did not dampen the mood at the annual Loyola Academy Mothers’ Club Spring Dinner. Lively conversations were heard amongst the crowd of over a 130 women who gathered to celebrate another successful year of volunteer efforts to support the many Mothers’ Club events throughout the year.
The atmosphere was set by our wonderful chairs with gorgeous spring flowers and a delicious dinner menu that everyone enjoyed. Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, did not disappoint, as always he gave a fabulous welcoming speech and prayer to kick off the evening. We heard humorous and thoughtful words from our outgoing president, Nancy Poggioli, who thanked all the volunteers and recognized our outgoing executive board members. Sophie Streeter, director of special events, thanked Nancy for her tireless service to the LA community. Our incoming president, Mary Pat Hickey, spoke about how excited she is to lead the Mothers’ Club Board and is looking forward to the 2017–18 year of events. She also introduced the new executive board members. We then said goodbye to our special graduating moms, we thanked them for all they have done and sent them off with a rose. Finally we heard from Louise Sanborn who represents the Graduate Parents Network, which helps parents stay in touch with the wonderful community of Loyola Academy after their children have graduated.
Thank you to all the volunteers who made the evening so very special for all the mothers. A special thanks to our exceptional chairs Maria Lynch, Donna Bodkin and Janet Ryan who skillfully engineered a night to be remembered. Thanks also to Director of Special Events Sophie Streeter, Special Events Coordinator Joan Schniedwind and the management and staff at the Valley Lo Club.
