Daniel T. Kearns '07 Presented soundBYTE App at SXSW Conference
Daniel T. Kearns '07 pitched his newly launched start-up, soundBYTE App, at the 2017 South by Southwest (SXSW) Release It Competition in Austin on March 10.
soundBYTE is an iPhone app similar to Instagram and Twitter, offering up to fourteen seconds of audio sharing. As one of just ten start-ups from around the world invited to the competition, soundBYTE finished in the top three. soundBYTE was also one of just twenty start-ups invited to the SXSW Spotlight Showcase.
soundBYTE is currently raising an early-stage round of funding, and Kearns was able to generate strong interest from both investors and new users at SXSW, which is one of the largest festivals in the world.
Kearns briefly met with Chris Sacca, a billionaire early investor in Twitter, Instagram and Uber as well as a famous "shark" on ABC's Shark Tank TV series. During this event soundBYTE also welcomed its first celebrity sign up—Evan Turner, Chicagoan and NBA player for the Portland Trailblazers.
