“This event was a great way to meet fellow alumni and reconnect with former classmates, many of whom I didn’t realize were living in Manhattan,” says Grace S. Bowen ’10.
There were about 75 people in attendance for this special alumni event, which included alumni representing sixty years of graduating classes. This diversity was perfect for networking and building connections among the Rambler community in New York.
“For me the joy of Rambler gatherings is reminiscing about our shared experiences at the Academy and to hear about Loyola today,” says Winifred W. Chane ’96. “Time has passed, but the values and education I received appear as strong today as they were during my time as a student.”
Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E.McGrath, SJ, addressed the crowd to share
Loyola’s Campus Master Plan and discuss the big changes on the horizon. After years of planning and fundraising, construction is about to begin on a multiphase Campus Master Plan that includes a state-of-the-art-pool; a light-filled, multifunction gathering space inspired by the St. Ignatius Piazza in front of the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome; a theater for the performing arts; and more. "This is a transformational moment in the life and legacy of Loyola Academy,” Fr. Mcgrath explained. He encouraged attendees to support the
Second Century Campaign to build a better future and continue to challenge our students and alumni to
Become More.
“The evolution of Loyola Academy is exciting, and it is reassuring to know that the focus is still on the individual, and in turn the focus of individual collective is on others,” says Chane.
“It was exciting to hear the latest and greatest updates on all that is happening on the corner of Laramie and Lake,” adds Bowen. “I love knowing that Loyola is evolving...from not only an academic perspective but also from a social, artistic, athletic and technological standpoint as well.”
“My favorite part about the event was discussing the future of Loyola Academy with other alumni immediately following Father McGrath’s presentation on the state of affairs and future of Loyola,” says Patrick W. English ’96. “We had spirited conversations about how the campus is constantly being improved and how these enhancements make Loyola a better institution for students, administration and, ultimately, for others.”
Loyola Academy’s cohort to New York City included Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, Executive Vice President Dennis Stonequist ’90, Assistant Principal for Student Services Charlie Heintz and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Ashley Sanks ’10.
