Orientation Programming for Freshmen

By:
Thursday, August 13 | 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday, August 14 | 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

There will be two full days of in person orientation for 9th grade students. The goal is to ease the transition to freshman year, build confidence, create a bond amongst the Class of 2024, learn protocols for the fall and participate in diversity, equity and inclusion education. Please review our Entrance and Exit Policy for information on returning to campus.

Students will report to a classroom based on their Freshman Formation class period and counselor. Lunch will be provided both days. If your student has a food allergy that must be accommodated, please email Assistant Food Service Director Ms. Susan Mouflouzelis at smouflouz@questfms.com to request an alternative lunch.

The only school supply freshmen will need for Thursday and Friday is their iPad. Students do not need to bring pens or paper. If students are participating in activities after Freshman Orientation Days, it is imperative that they secure the iPad in their locker. Locks will be provided on Thursday for their lockers. Please visit the FAQ section on the One-to-One web page for frequently asked questions about iPad usage and Loyola's One-to-One program.

On Thursday, August 13, in addition to ice breakers and academic prep, our newest Ramblers will walk through their class schedules, meet their teachers during 13-minute class periods and have their ID photos taken. Freshmen are expected to be in standard LA dress code. Please visit the Dean's Office web page for more information about our dress code.

On Friday, August 14, freshmen will participate in iPad training, diversity and inclusion training and compete in our house games. Students should wear athletic attire (shorts or sweatpants) and their house t-shirt. House t-shirts will be issued to all 9th graders on Thursday, August 13. All activities will occur within their small Freshman Formation group.

Please note: students should come to campus on their class orientation day(s) only. There is no E-Learning on orientation days. The first day of school (hybrid schedule) for all students will be on Thursday, August 20. Freshmen will be on campus this day following an R day schedule. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will be e-learning at home.

All incoming freshmen are required to attend these orientation sessions. Please click here for additional information on orientation days. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Student Activities Melissa Krein at mkrein@loy.org.
