Varsity Poms Team and Students Volunteer at Misericordia Heart of Mercy Ball
In November, the varsity poms team volunteered at the Misericordia Heart of Mercy Ball held at the Hilton in downtown Chicago. In total, thirty-six Loyola Academy students assisted with the program and fun of the special night.
“Some of the seniors have helped us for the last few years, and we appreciate their continued commitment,” said Meg Fiorenza, co-chair the Misericordia Women's Board and Loyola parent.
In addition to the help from the poms team, coordinated by the Saletta family, senior Justin Simon and junior Maggie Cienkus led the effort to recruit the volunteer group. Students assisted with greeting and directing guests, selling raffles, auction bidding, auction item packaging and helping the large crowd get to their tables. As a bonus, the Rambler volunteers were able to spend time with Misericordia residents during dinner.
“The Loyola community has developed a very special relationship with Misericordia, and for that we are forever grateful,” Fiorenza added.
The Heart of Mercy Ball was a huge success. With approximately 850 attendees, the gala is on track to raise $1M.
In a joint statement, Meg Fiorenza and Bridget Cienkus, co-chairs of the Misericordia Women’s Board and Loyola Academy parents, said: “The success of the Heart of Mercy Ball depends on the generous support of our volunteers, and the students are a critical component of the evening. As Loyola parents, we couldn't be more proud of our school community.”
