Loyola Academy Choirs Celebrate Spring Concert with Evening of Musical Excellence

On April 28, 2026, Loyola Academy's choirs took the stage at the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center for their annual Spring Concert, offering an evening that reflected both artistic excellence and the formation of students as expressive, reflective performers. Under the direction of Mr. Jesse Borower, with Ms. Megan Fletcher accompanying, the concert brought together Concert Choir, Honors Chorale, Honors Chamber Singers, and the student-led a cappella group Nothin' But Treble in a program that spanned centuries, styles, and cultures.

The program invited the audience into a rich musical journey—from the Irish folk song Shule Aroon to Schumann's Widmung and contemporary selections like Never Enough. Honors Chorale and Chamber Singers presented sacred and classical works rooted in the tradition of praising God through music, including settings of Psalms and spirituals that emphasized both technical precision and heartfelt expression. Student soloists were featured throughout the evening, highlighting the depth of individual talent within a collaborative ensemble.

A cappella group Nothin' But Treble energized the performance with contemporary arrangements and student leadership, while the combined choirs concluded the evening with a powerful medley from The Phantom of the Opera, followed by Homeward Bound and Loyola's longstanding benediction, The Lord Bless You and Keep You. Conducted by Kat Labbé, the final piece served as a meaningful tradition, honoring the Class of 2026 and their journey ahead.

"Joining Loyola Academy’s Choir program junior year felt like opening a door I didn't realize I had closed. Since then, music has become a source of grounding and joy again. The fine arts have become an essential part of my education, something I can't imagine my life without. They reconnected me with my greatest passion, and that clarity has shaped my hopes for the future. I'm eager to continue studying music in college and to keep exploring the possibilities it opens for me." - Filia T. '26

"Singing ‘Homeward Bound’ at the end of the performance as a senior really makes you realize where you are going and to appreciate the people and experiences we’re leaving. It's truly eye-opening." - Maya V. '26

The Spring Concert stands as a testament to Loyola Academy's commitment to forming the whole person through the arts, where discipline, creativity, and reflection come together in pursuit of the greater good. The evening not only showcased musical achievement but also invited the community to encounter beauty, gratitude, and shared purpose through song.
