AP Art & Design Students Showcase Work at Evanston Art Center

Loyola Academy's AP Art & Design Exhibition is an annual celebration of student work in the visual arts held at the Evanston Art Center on Central Street in Evanston. The exhibition highlights the creativity, discipline, and imagination of students who have spent two to four years developing their artistic voice through Loyola's visual arts program.
This year's cohort of AP Art & Design students presents a compelling and thoughtful body of work shaped by the questions and experiences of their generation. Their artwork reflects a world filled with constant imagery and complexity—expressing concerns about the future, care for the environment, moments of joy and celebration, and the challenges of navigating the transition from childhood to adulthood. Through a wide range of materials, processes, and artistic approaches, students invite viewers into their exploration of these themes.

Throughout the year, students engaged deeply in both traditional and contemporary practices. They worked from live models, experiencing the energy and immediacy of observational drawing, and explored digital photography, with some extending their work through Photoshop and collage. This process of experimentation encouraged each student to take creative risks while refining technical skills and developing a personal artistic vision.

An opening reception for students and their families was held on Wednesday, March 19, at 6:15 p.m. at the Evanston Art Center. The exhibition ran through Saturday, March 22, and welcomed members of the Loyola community and the public to view the students' work.

This year’s featured Loyola Academy artists include:
  • Olivia Dykstra '26 — oil paintings, prints, photography
  • Nancy Elizondo '26 — acrylic paintings, watercolors, prints
  • Jimmy Munozmaciel '26 — mixed media objects, acrylic paintings, photography
  • Silas Olsen '26 — mixed media collages, watercolor, acrylic paintings
  • Lily Ryan '26 — mixed media paintings, collages, objects
  • Konner Sayer '26 — printmaking, photography, mixed media
  • Alex Villalba '26 — mixed media paintings, drawing on canvas, prints
The exhibition reflects not only the students' technical growth but also their willingness to take creative risks and engage deeply with ideas that matter to them. It stands as a testament to the formation of the whole person—where curiosity, reflection, and expression come together in meaningful ways.

The Fine Arts Department extends its gratitude to Justin Hart for his invaluable support in installing the exhibition, and to Paula Danoff and Emma Rose Gudewitz of the Evanston Art Center for their generosity and partnership in providing a space that honors student work with such care and professionalism.

Loyola Academy congratulates these talented Ramblers on a successful exhibition, celebrating a body of work that reflects creativity, inquiry, and meaningful growth.
