Faculty Artist Colleen Aufderheide LdM '85 Showcases Work
Members of the Loyola Academy community gathered in the art gallery of the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center on March 5 to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition featuring the work of faculty member Colleen Aufderheide LdM '85.
An accomplished printmaker and painter, Aufderheide's work explores a range of themes—from quiet moments observed during walks in nature to abstract, layered collages that reflect movement, texture, and color. Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and encounter the beauty found in both the natural world and artistic experimentation.
The exhibition offers students, faculty, parents, and visitors an opportunity to engage with the creative work of a member of Loyola's own Fine Arts faculty and to experience the arts as an integral part of the school's academic and cultural life.
'It has been a privilege to exhibit my artwork in the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center as both a faculty member and alumnus of Marillac High School. Sharing work with the Loyola community has been especially meaningful because it connects the legacy of Marillac's focus on the arts with Loyola’s commitment to shaping women and men for others through the arts. Both have profoundly influenced me as an artist and teacher. I have been thrilled to learn that the exhibition has brought joy and wonder to my colleagues and students as they take a moment out of their busy schedules to experience the art."
The exhibition will be on view March 5 through April 13, 2026, in the art gallery of the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center. Visitors are encouraged to review Loyola Academy's Visitors on Campus Policy for gallery access information.
