Throughout February, Loyola Academy recognized Black History Month through a variety of displays and activities that highlighted the history, culture, and contributions of Black communities.
Each day before the Daily Announcements, students learned about influential Black singers and artists whose work has shaped music and culture. Around campus, flags representing countries across Africa and nations with significant Black populations were displayed, celebrating the global diversity and cultural heritage of Black communities around the world. Bulletin boards along the path to the library also featured notable figures and moments in Black history.
Throughout the month, activities also took place during Flex periods, offering students opportunities to engage more deeply with the themes and history being highlighted across campus.
In addition, students from a variety of clubs collaborated on a mural highlighting Black leaders connected to their clubs’ interests, creating a visual tribute to individuals who have made a lasting impact in their fields.
Together, these efforts offered the Loyola community opportunities to learn, reflect, and celebrate the contributions and heritage honored during Black History Month.
