Doña Marina Society Autumn Amble Brings Together Women in Faith and Friendship
Under crisp blue skies and surrounded by the colors of fall, the women of Loyola Academy’s Doña Marina Society gathered on Sunday, October 12, for a beautiful morning of faith, fellowship, and reflection at the Autumn Amble.
The day began with Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, presiding over Mass in the Chapel, where guests gathered in prayer and gratitude.
The liturgy included a heartfelt Call to Worship and welcome by Rowena “Ro” Parma LdM ’85 P ’17, ’18, and thoughtfully delivered first and second readings from Diana R. Larson ’02 and Patricia Hyland Bowman P ’18, ’28, respectively. Debbie Iantorno McIntyre ’98 offered the Prayers of the Faithful, inviting all gathered to lift their intentions in unity and hope.
Following the liturgy, steering committee member Caroline Jaros ’16 led a rosary, inviting participants to join in a beautiful shared devotion. The atmosphere was both peaceful and joyful—a fitting start to a day dedicated to community and connection.
Following Mass, Director of Annual Giving Shelby Walchuk ‘05 led guests to the Amato Track, where the gentle autumn air created the perfect backdrop for a leisurely walk. With warm apple cider in hand and sweet treats to share, attendees enjoyed unhurried conversation and laughter as they strolled together—an embodiment of the society’s mission to nurture both spiritual and social bonds among Loyola women.
The Doña Marina Society, named in honor of the mother of St. Ignatius of Loyola, hosts gatherings throughout the year that strengthen the ties between mothers, alumnae, grandmothers, faculty, staff, and friends of Loyola. The Autumn Amble marked the Society’s second event of the 2025–2026 academic year, capturing its spirit perfectly: a joyful walk of faith and friendship amidst the beauty of the season.
