Loyola Academy Prioritizes the Health and Safety of its Community with New AED Technology

Loyola Academy has taken a significant step in prioritizing the health and safety of its community by installing state-of-the-art automated external defibrillator (AED) cabinets at our outdoor athletic venues at Hoerster Field on our Wilmette campus and soon to be installed at our Munz campus in Glenview.
These AED cabinets are designed to provide life-saving support for anyone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). They include features like temperature control and real-time alerts, which notify responders if an AED is removed, ensuring immediate access to emergency care in critical situations. These new, year-round 'smart' AED cabinets replace our older models, which not only enhance safety but also provides peace of mind for students, athletes, coaches, and visitors alike. Special thanks to our School Nurse Corry Braasch and Vice President for Athletics and Fitness Genevieve Atwood, for spearheading the upgrade.

We'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dave Fritzsche '88, P '22, '25, founder of SaveHeart by HeartNation, whose generous donation made these advancements possible. Dave's support enables us to better protect the Loyola Academy community and uphold our values of "cura personalis"—caring for the whole person.
