Loyola Celebrates Spirit Week 2023: Under the Sea!

This year’s Spirit Week theme, "Under the Sea," set the tone for a week of dress-down days with fun themes: students dressed in their best "groutfit" for "Shark Day" on Monday; each class was assigned a color to wear during "Class Color Day" on Tuesday; students brought out their best tropical wear during "Beach & Hawaiian Shirt Day" on Wednesday; "School of Fish Day" on Thursday brought out twins, triplets, and groups of friends wearing the same thing; and "Rambler Deck-Out Day" on Friday. A dunk tank, a screening of Finding Nemo in the Student Center, obstacle courses, and friendly competitions were just some of the activities hosted by the Student Activities Office to energize students throughout the week.
The rally, which can be viewed here, was dismissed at 2:30 p.m., leading Ramblers into a spirited homecoming weekend. Later that evening, the Class of 2027 danced the night away at the annual Freshman Luau, a Hawaiian-themed party hosted by the student group Insignis. Held outside the Piazza courtyard, Loyola’s newest Ramblers made great memories and bonded with their class.

On Saturday, September 23, the varsity football team took on the St. Patrick Shamrocks in an exciting homecoming shutout that ended in a 38-0 Loyola victory. The Ramblers are now 5-0 this season.

Then, donned in their semi-formal wear, sophomores, juniors, and seniors returned to campus on Saturday evening to celebrate the close of Spirit Week with a beautiful homecoming dance in the West Gym.

Homecoming 2023 was a wonderful week for Loyola students, faculty, and staff! We acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the Student Activities Office in organizing and preparing so many wonderful events and activities.

Go Ramblers!
