Ramblers Take Time to Pause and Reflect During Lent
During Lent, Loyola Academy students had the opportunity to pause and reflect on who they are and what they are called to do, inspired by this year's theme: The Grace of Lent.
Loyola's Campus Ministry, Student Activities, and Theology Department planned special activities for students every Wednesday of Lent to commemorate the main tenets of this holy season: prayer, almsgiving, and fasting:
Wednesday, March 1: The Grace of Prayer Campus Ministry partnered with the Student Council to lead a communal art project in the Piazza. As Ramblers made their way to class, they were able to make their Lenten commitments with a string art cross.
Wednesday, March 8: The Grace of Almsgiving Students attended a presentation about the Kino Border Initiative. The Kino Border Initiative is a summer service opportunity where students spend a week at the Arizona/Mexico border and spend time with migrants, serve at local soup kitchens and women’s shelters, and converse with people impacted by immigration.
Wednesday, March 15: The Grace of Fasting The Fashion Club organized a clothing swap in the Piazza. Throughout Lent, students were encouraged to take a break from shopping fast-fashion trends. The clothing swap was a fun way for students to share their favorite accessories and clothing items with each other.
Wednesday, March 29: The Grace of Prayer Campus Ministry and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Sarah Bennett hosted an Interfaith Panel to explore the rich traditions of prayer from different cultures. The panel was made up of students and teachers from different faith backgrounds, and they discussed their spiritual journeys, the importance of faith, and similarities with Catholicism. Thank you to the following panelists for participating:
Habeebat Alatise ’26 Ashley Zapata ’25 Temitope Azeez ’23 Dr. Gabrielle Feldman - College Counseling Mrs. Rhian Jeong - Theology Mr. Jeffrey Joseph - Theology Dr. Matthew Knotts - Theology
Tuesday, April 4, and Wednesday, April 5: Stations of the Cross To end the Lenten season, Campus Ministry held Stations of the Cross. This sacred tradition commemorates Jesus’s passion and death on the cross.
A very special thank you to the Campus Ministry Department, Student Council, Fashion Club, and the many hands that helped our community enjoy a meaningful Lenten season.
