Members of the Class of 1972 gathered to celebrate their 50th Rambler Reunion over a fun-filled weekend on September 16 and 17.
The weekend kicked off on Friday with golf at Winnetka Golf Club and a classmate only reception at Stormy’s Tavern and Grille.
On Saturday, the Class of 1972 received special recognition between quarters of the Loyola vs. Brother Rice varsity football game (final: LA 57–Brother Rice 21). The ’72 grads also enjoyed a VIP tour of the school and a pregame tailgate with classmates.
Following the game, Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, celebrated a special 50th Reunion Mass in the Chapel. Classmates who have passed away were honored in a memorial video that played before Mass.
Next, ’72 alumni took a class photo on the stage of the new Leemputte Family Theater to commemorate their reunion before heading off to the official class party in the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center. Vice President for Alumni and Network Engagement Marty Jennings ’98 welcomed alumni and their guests before dinner was served. Alumni enjoyed a beautiful evening with live music, great food, and lively conversation. Reunion committee members, David Wagener ’72 and Tom Compernolle ’72, played integral roles in planning the celebration. In short speeches, they reflected on their time at Loyola and the fond memories and close bonds they created here.
It was a special honor to showcase the student art wall, which was dedicated to the Class of 1972 for their generous support of the Second Century Campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in Loyola’s history.
