Marching Band, Ramblerettes, and Cheer Lead Wilmette 150 Parade

Loyola Academy’s Marching Band, Ramblerettes dance team, and Cheer squad led the Wilmette 150 parade on Saturday, September 10, at a block party celebrating the village’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Officially incorporated in September 1872, the Village of Wilmette saw hundreds come out in support including residents, neighbors, and town officials and dignitaries. Notably, Loyola Academy has called Wilmette home for 65 years since moving from the campus of Loyola University Chicago in 1957.
The afternoon’s block party included a parade, music, the Jesse White Tumblers, and more. Representing Loyola, the Marching Band, Ramblerettes, and Cheer squad marched for several blocks and performed a 15 minute set, which included perennial favorites of the LA Band like “September'' by Earth Wind and Fire and “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5. Other selections included “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars and “Take On Me” by A-ha. The Band closed their performance with the help of the crowd performing the school fight song “Go Loyola!” before marching out.

As true women and men for others, Rambler guitar players helped resolve a technical issue by lending their amplifier so that Village President Senta Plunkett could deliver her address. And, during a special moment, the cheerleaders helped carry the flag of the USS Wilmette. It was a memorable day for Wilmette and for the Ramblers!
