Family Mass and Day of Service

On Sunday, April 3, nearly 300 Rambler parents and students participated in the annual Family Mass and Day of Service, sponsored by the Rambler Parent Organization (RPO). The Family Mass and Day of Service has been a Loyola tradition since 2013 and is one of the many ways the Loyola community fulfills the mission to be women and men for others.
Service efforts began in the beginning of March when community members purchased items, such as cleaning supplies, household goods, school supplies and clothing, from carefully curated Amazon wishlists. This year’s service day benefitted five local organizations: Well of Mercy, Madonna Mission, A Just Harvest, Catholic Charities and Loyola’s own college bound students from under-resourced backgrounds. After a beautiful Mass in the Chapel, presided over by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, Rambler families moved to the West Gym to organize and prepare packages of the wishlist items generously donated over the preceding several weeks. Notably, college bound bags were created with dorm room supplies, such as sheets, pillows and hampers, for Loyola’s own tuition-assisted students.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this wonderful day! We are especially grateful to Fr. McGrath for presiding over Mass, to our event chairs Tom McBreen '92, P '24 and Jimmy Samartzis '94, P '24, who are both alumni and current parents, and RPO board member Kathleen Tobin.
