College Counseling Hosts Annual College Fair

On Monday, March 21, Loyola Academy's College Counseling Department hosted its annual College Fair for students and parents to begin the college exploration process. With over 200 colleges and universities in attendance, Loyola’s College Fair remains one of the largest private high school college fairs in the state of Illinois.
“The evening presents a wonderful spectrum of college options to explore,” says College Counseling Department Chair Mr. Mark Porcaro, who explained that entrance to the fair was staggered to allow juniors and their parents to enter first, maximizing their time, followed by sophomores and their parents slightly later.

Loyola continued to use StriveScan, which makes QR code scanning available for students and institutions. The QR codes eliminate the time-consuming process of filling out contact cards and enable students to focus their time and energy engaging college reps and getting important questions answered.

The top five colleges scanned at the fair were: Marquette University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Purdue University, University of Iowa and Indiana University - Bloomington.

433 students were scanning at Monday’s college fair—99 sophomores, 333 juniors and 1 senior.
