Ash Wednesday Mass

On March 2, Loyola celebrated Ash Wednesday with an all school Mass in the West Gym. During the homily, Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, reminded students to use the next forty days to remember who they are and what they are called to do.

"Lent is a moment when the Church invites us to ponder if we have forgotten who we are—the essence of who we are and who were called to be," said Fr. McGrath, who acknowledged the noise of the world and the heaviness we feel in response to the anxieties of the present time. "Lent comes to us as invitation to remember who we really are and catch a glimpse of our better selves."

He offered students a simple and powerful message for this Lenten season: "There are no small acts of love. Everything we can do matters."
