Did you know? Solar Panels at Munz Campus Provide Learning Opportunities for Ramblers

Loyola Academy has four solar panels on the concession stand building at the Theodore G. Munz, SJ, Campus, a 60-acre site in Glenview that is home to practice and competition athletic fields. “While they don’t make much power, they are cool for students collecting data and using models for solar installation in the future,” says AP Environmental Science Teacher and Land Management Coordinator Mrs. Jenny Snyder LdM '90.

Loyola’s four Canadian Solar 255W modules, designed and built by Earth Wind and Solar Energy, were installed in July 2015. So far they have produced 6.7 MWh (megawatt hours), equivalent to running a refrigerator for 4 years or planting 121 trees (based on CO2 emissions everted).
