Loyola Academy's Department of Performing Arts and Thespian Troupe 4729 performed the musical "Annie Jr" to a delighted in-person audience on November 11–14. Living in New York City in December 1933, little orphan Annie (Chloe Molins '23) charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start. Annie is determined to find the sisters who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (Malina Mandel '23). She eventually finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Casey Lyons '22); his personal secretary Grace Farrell (Hannah Beil '24); and a lovable mutt named Sandy (Loyola Academy therapy dog Teagan).
Based on the book by Thomas Meehan, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, the performance enchanted the crowd with well-loved musical numbers like "It’s the Hard-Knock Life," "Tomorrow" and "I Think I’m Gonna Like it Here."
Congratulations to the cast, crew and production staff who worked tirelessly to bring this wonderful story to the Loyola community!
