Six Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

In September, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation named six Loyola Academy students National Merit semifinalists. The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Congratulations to Morgan C. Baskfield, Matthew J. Griesmeyer, Mark Gabriel C. Gonzalez, John P. Phillips, Amanda M. Rajkovich and Peter D. Scheidt.
The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. High school juniors entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be awarded in the spring.

The Loyola community congratulates the following six seniors from the Class of 2022:

Morgan C. Baskfield
Matthew J. Griesmeyer
Mark Gabriel C. Gonzalez
John P. Phillips
Amanda M. Rajkovich
Peter D. Scheidt
