Senior French Students Earn AATF Awards

Three seniors from the Class of 2021 received American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) Awards. Congratulations to Francesca Hamacher and Margaret “Maggie” Enrietto, who each received the Excellence in French Award, and Margaret Kolada, who received the Outstanding Senior in French Award. The AATF was founded in 1927 and has as its mission the promotion of the study of French language and French-speaking literatures and culture at all levels.
The AATF Excellence in French Award is given annually to students who have demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken. Recipients must be non-native speakers of French.
 
Francesca and Maggie have studied French for five years and are the students of Cathy Kendrigan. They have competed in the National French Contest, are French Club members, have participated in National French Week and are three-year members and officers of the French Honor Society.
 
The AATF Outstanding Senior in French Award is given annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken. Recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French
 
Margaret has completed five years of French study.  She has competed in the National French Contest, is a French Club member, has participated in National French Week and is a three-year member and officer of the French Honor Society. She is the student of Cathy Kendrigan.
