In Memory of Mr. Kevin Warnke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Mr. Kevin Warnke, a cherished faculty member in Loyola Academy's Science Department, on Monday, February 8, after a brief battle with cancer. We are saddened by this loss and hold his wife, Anne, and their family, his colleagues, students and friends in our prayers.

Mr. Warnke came to Loyola after a distinguished career as an engineer at Abbott Laboratories and, prior to that, as a surface warfare officer (nuclear) in the United States Navy. Mr. Warnke held a PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia and a bachelor of science in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. Since arriving at Loyola six years ago, Mr. Warnke taught Physics, AP Physics, Digital Electronics and Introduction to Robotics.

In order to support our students during this difficult time, we have arranged to have counselors and campus ministers available to pray with students and assist them with the questions and grief which accompany this difficult news. On Tuesday, February 9, counselors will be available in Room 3 throughout the day or on Zoom during lunch periods.

Mr. Warnke was an outstanding teacher who cared very deeply about the success and well-being of each and every one of his students. Together in sorrow, we mourn this beloved member of the Loyola Academy family.
