Seniors Recognized for Achievement in Study of French

Two seniors received American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) Awards:  Ella Smyth ’20 received an Excellence in French Award and Elizabeth Leinenweber ’20 received an Outstanding Senior in French Award. 
Ella Smyth ’20—Excellence in French Award
This award is made annually to a student who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken.  Recipients must be non-native speakers of French.

Ella has studied French for five years and is the student of Cathy Kendrigan.  She has traveled abroad, has competed in the National French Contest, is a French Club member, has participated in National French Week, and is a three-year member of the French Honor Society.

Elizabeth Leinenweber ’20—Outstanding Senior in French Award
This award is made annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken.  Recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French.

Elizabeth has completed five years of French study.  She has traveled abroad, has competed in the National French Contest, is a French Club member, has participated in National French Week, and is a three-year member of the French Honor Society.  She is the student of Cathy Kendrigan.

The AATF was founded in 1927 and has as its mission the promotion of the study of French language and French-speaking literatures and culture at all levels.
