24th Annual Ramblers Golf Outing

It was a perfect sunny day for golf at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview as alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy hit the links for the 24th annual Ramblers Golf Outing on September 10.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to play games and win spectacular prizes. At holes 8 and 13, golfers tried their best to get a hole-in-one and drive off in a 2018 Cadillac XT5 sponsored by The Patrick Dealer Group and Hanley Dawson IV ’86 or a 2018 Tiguan S 4 Motion sponsored by Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen and John P. Jennings ’79.

Popular games on the course included Longest Drive on the 12th hole, Closest to the Pin on the 13th hole and Deuces Wild on the 16th hole for a chance to win cash prizes and gift certificates to the NSCC Pro Shop. Players purchased raffle tickets to secure two mulligans, one sleeve of LA golf balls and a chance to win Northwestern Wildcats and Chicago Bears tickets donated by Ronald “Reb” E. Banas ’81, tickets to the 2018 President’s Dinner donated by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, and a gift card for Gemini in Chicago donated by Ryan M. O’Donnell ’95.

On the green, Reb Banas ’81, Timothy J. Haggerty ’81, Charles K. “Chas” Stevens ’85 and James Sullivan ’88 took first place with a gross score of 142. On the Peoria handicapping system, Patrick Callahan Jr. ’60, Daniel Callahan ’64, Steven Callahan ’77 and Peter Stark took first place with a score of 127.

Christopher Cagadas ’98 and Courtney O’Connor ’05 had the longest drives on the 12th hole. Both winners received a gift certificate to the NSCC Pro Shop.

Because of generous contributions from golf outing participants, Loyola Academy was able to cover the tuition for one student, as well as raise funds for the Loyola Academy Needy Family Fund.

We are grateful to our golf committee members Reb Banas ’81 and Chas Stevens ’85. Their generosity and hard work helped make the day possible.
