Congratulations to the boys' swimming and diving team! Their 2020 IHSA state championship achievements include seven school records broken, one state record broke, two individual state championships, a 1-2 finish in the 500 free, one relay state championship and a second place team trophy.
Congratulations to senior Luke Maurer who received the Illinois High School Swimmer of the Year Award for 2020! This is only the second time the award has been given to a swimmer from Loyola’s boys’ team. The previous winner was Erik Maurer ’89, none other than Luke's dad!
Congrats to the boys' swimming and diving team for its 2nd place finish at the 2020 IHSA state swim meet on Saturday, February 29. This matches the program’s best finish and is the first state trophy since 1989. A special congratulations to senior Luke Maurer for his first place in the 200 free and second place in the 100 free; Luke set a new IHSA record in the 200 free with a time of 134.49. Congrats to senior Everet Andrew on his first place in the 500 free and 6th place in the 200 IM; freshman Rex Maurer on his second place in the 200 free and 5th in the 500 free. Congrats to the 200 free relay team of Luke and Rex Maurer, Andy Kelly, and Lachlan Andrew. Congrats to the 400 free relay team of Rex Maurer, Everet Andrew, Andy Kelly and Luke Maurer.
The boys’ swimming and diving team had an outstanding showing at the IHSA sectionals at Niles North High School over the weekend and witnessed some record-breaking achievements.
