Loyola hosted the Girls' Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) basketball tournament this weekend. Varsity finished in 3rd place with a victory over Trinity High School. The sophomore team finished in 2nd place and the freshman team finished in 1st place. Congratulations to Angelina Giordono '22 and Morgan Van Horn '22 who received All Conference honors.
The freshmen A team won the Maine West Tournament defeating Buffalo Grove (43-18), Fenwick (29-21), St Ignatius (51-46) and Marist (45-23) in the final. The freshman B team continued their winning ways with impressive victories over Libertyville and Fenwick.
Varsity rolled through the New Trier Thanksgiving Tournament on their way to a 5-0 finish and becoming tournament champions! Victories were against Stevenson, New Trier, Warren, Phillips and Taft. The team, now 6-0, moves onto conference play with games against Mother McAuley, Fenwick and Montini in the coming weeks. The freshman team played in the Loyola Thanksgiving Tournament—the Freshmen A team finished 2-2 with wins over Warren and Glenbrook South and hard fought losses vs New Trier and Prospect. The Freshman B team finished 4-0 with wins over Nazareth, New Trier, Glenbrook South and Prospect.
