Summer professional development: A three day National Speech and Debate Conference in Colorado Springs with sessions to help speech and debate coaches hone their skills and network

What was your favorite part of the experience? “Other than being in the mountains, I really enjoyed connecting with other coaches from around the country and some sessions were particularly helpful. I learned many new methods to help students play characters’ emotions and cut theatrical pieces for speech events. For debate, I became more knowledgeable about the mechanics and strategies of argumentation. I acquired an excellent book with resources for coaches that I will surely use this upcoming season to improve our teams.”
