Graduation Requirements

ALL COURSES OFFERED AT LOYOLA ACADEMY are college preparatory courses. The graduation requirements beginning with the Class of 2021 are as follows:
  • 4.0 English
  • 4.0 Theology
  • 3.0 Science (laboratory science; one credit must be Biology)
  • 3.0 Mathematics
  • 2.0 Social Studies
  • 2.0 Language (two years of one language)
  • 2.0 Physical Education & Health/Performing Arts 
  • 1.0 Fine Arts
  • 4.0 Electives
  • 1.0 Formation (.25 credit earned each year)
  • 26.0 TOTAL CREDITS
  1. Students in the Class of 2021 and 2022 are expected to carry a full load of 6.25 courses (including Formation) per semester unless granted a specific exception. Students in the Class of 2023 are required to carry a full load of 7.25 courses (including Formation) per semester during freshman year.
  2. It is the responsibility of students to be aware of graduation requirements and also to be certain that their academic programs satisfy their requirements. It is also the responsibility of students to review their class schedules to be certain they are scheduled for the required courses. 
  3. Students must complete two years of Physical Education including Health, which must be completed during either freshman or sophomore year. Students may substitute one year of Performing Arts for Physical Education during either freshman or sophomore year.
  4. Students in Illinois must pass an examination on the Declaration of Independence, the flag of the United States, the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois. 
  5. By the end of senior year, students must accumulate 26 credits and successfully complete all graduation requirements to be eligible for graduation.
